Description

Budget and trail-friendly the Ibis Ripeley AF Deore Mountain Bike brings fun to the trail while we’re out ripping old loops and discovering new ones. This beauty of a trail bike leaves no stone unturned, or untouched, when it comes to building an ideal trail bike for all our riding needs. The 130/120mm travel rig is as responsive as it is plush, giving us a solid base on the climbs and supportive performance on the downs. Fitted standard with a dropper post, and designed in part with suspension guru Dave Weigel, we’re beyond impressed with what Ibis delivered this time. Geometry on the Ibis makes the bike feel much more aggressive than it may look to be on paper. The slacked-out 65. 5 head tube angle pairs nicely with the 130mm fork, getting us to send the bike off the deep end more confidently than ever. A nice steep 76 seat-tube angle helps keep the bike comfortable when we’re churning up long fire roads or ascending techy single-track. Ibis has dialed in the reach on the bike too, with a size large getting 475mm to give us plenty of room to move in the cockpit. Fox Performance suspension works with this geometry, and the Dave Wiegel design means that pedal bob is all but eliminated. Performance suspension gets all the tech of its more expensive Factory cousin but without the excessive price tag. We find the Fox 34 supports our more aggressive endeavors, whether it’s a quick stop at the bike park for an afternoon of ripping downhill or a loop on the local cross-country zone. Ibis has specced this version of the Ripley with a full Deore groupset, refusing to cut corners where other brands might find an easy way to skirt costs. Deore performs incredibly well, enjoying much of the high-end tech seen in more expensive Shimano groupsets. The 12 speed 10-51t cassette is paired to a 30t chainring on all models, giving us plenty of range to climb over the next mountain. The rear derailleur gets the Shadow+ treatment from Shimano, so there’s no need to throw on a c…
